What would happen if you tried to run a 16'' barrel with a rifle length gas tube, would it run well, or would you have to enlarge the gas port? This is one of those things that's always kind of floated around in my head, but I never got around to looking into it.

Ya meen like cutting a 20" back to 16" and using rifle gas system? It's been done. Just drill the hole to .110.

I figured someone else had already done it, which makes this the perfect place to ask. Thanks for the answer.

Aren't we talking about the Dissipator?

I'm not a dissy expert, but I thought it was a carbine length (16"er) barrel with a rifle gas length.

No?

I don't think so.  I am 99% sure that there is a gas block underneath those handguards and the Front Sight Base does not function as a standard gas block...

I'm sure the Bushmaster has a carbine gas block under the HGs, just look at their barrel page, it shows a bare barrel. I am pretty sure DPMS uses a rifle length gas system though, but not certain. I have no idea about other manufacturers.

Oly's K7 Eliminator has the same thing.

That's the Bushy picture I was thinking of!

Thanks.
