For the Dewey rod's, which size rod is recommended for a 20" AR-15?  Will the 24" be fine or should I go for the longer 30"?

I have a Bushmaster 20" A3.

Also, if I buy the Dewey rod is it an absolute necessity to also buy the Dewey Breech Rod Guide or don't I need it?

Thanks a lot.

Get a 36" at a minimum.  Remember that the handle won't be able to go past the rear of the upper.

You don't need a Dewey brand rod guide, but you do need one.  I recommend those made by Sinclair International

Thanks.  And do the Dewey rods come inside of a tube/case to protect them and if not, what's a good way to bring them to the range in your rifle case without having to worry about bending them?

I bought 2 and neither came with a tube but they are fine in my case with my rifle. 36" is kinda long for a 20" AR. 30" is plenty
