Can anyone post a sketch with the dimensions of the AR 15 barrel? I'm looking to make a training gun so I am going to turn an aluminum blank with no bore but I need the dimensions to I can screw on the barrel nut

to attach it to the receiver, dont mess with a barrel extension, use a 1" piece of round stock and let it run back into the receiver as far as you want, turn a groove in the piece at the receiver end and use a snap ring in that groove... this will hold under the barrel nut fine and retain the "barrel" no problem...
