I don't know why, but "Happy Holidays" is bugging the hell out of me this year...

I'm sure it was a simple misunderstanding and I'm very sure it wasn't a personal attack against your faith (unlike your last sentence).  It just seems that Christianity, being the majority religion in the US seems to have come under a lot of fire, wether or not it's the Ten Commandmaents being removed from a court house or a nativity scene being pulled from a public school.  Liberals (staunch anti-gunners) with thier politically correct ways are trying to change our society to reflect their socialistic values.

Don't leave a board where you get good info from because of a silly misunderstanding.

What he said, don't let people get to you, this board is a good resource.

Just ignore those who have to figure out a way to get christ into every conversation. Your wish for goodwill was a nice one and phrased appropriately.

Don't let the jackasses who found your heartfelt thanks insulting because you don't worship their god influence your decision to stay around.

Just that Christmas and Chanukah are on the same day this year.
I have read and re-read replies with disgust.

Did not know that ARs had a religous connotation.
Thought the only wars fought on this board might be about which AR manufacturer was the best.

Guess, I am on the wrong board. (Please spare me the "you guessed right" reply.)

I should just stay with Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership.
Keep my Galils locked and loaded.

The lamp stayed lit for 8 days not just one, 6 million died , etc. And I will never forget my relatives that would not wear short sleaves, even on the hottest of summer days,  because of the numbers on their arm and tears in their eyes.

Time to leave this board because:
things I know about Christ include he was Jewish, doubtful he had blond hair and blue eyes and the date of his death may have been NAILED, but certainly not the date of his birth.

Good grief! You have got to be kidding me!  I am totally dumbfounded. There is no reason that you should have taken any offense period. If anything posted in this thread offended you bad enough to disparage the folks here that wished you a merry Christmas then you should  join the Democratic underground. Heck you could Have wished us Happy Hannukah, merry Quansa or Happy Rammadan in exchange. This is the celebration of Christs birth. This is that time of year. If it were not for him it would be just another day. If you got your panties in a wad over this then by all means leave the board and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Also to add: You need to rethink this. I feel you are being intolerant and childish! I also wish to add that I support the right to religious freedom. I am a Christian and I am a supporter of Israel.

                                      AMEN!

I put it there before seeing all the negativity in the replys and then it didn't seem appropriate, so I took it out.  So the tree can be seen here

Merry Christmas, and Happy Hanukkah, I've had the pleasure of celebrating both, and its interesting how the IDF friends I have, and people I deal have no problems wishing a Merry Christmas to me.  I honor their faith, and they respect mine.  I keep their families in my prayers, as they do my family.

The difference is that they are fighting and dying, while you are acting put out over an internet comment that wasn't meant as an insult.   Don't bring up the sacrifice of others to try and build yourself up and take a noble position, its an insult to those that died, and it makes you very small and petty.

It is difficult to know what will offend someone else and I, too,  squeezed off a round of my own.

Edited my reply above to the first few responses.
Why you may ask?

I thought here would be like it is at the range.

No questions or comments beyond "how's the weapon, how did you get your wife to let you spend all that money and when will you be back to shoot?".

Then if someone says Happy/Merry(fill in the blank) you just smile, say thanks and wish them the same. No more needs to be said and not just because the other person may have a round in the chamber.

Just did not turn out that way here.

ARMALITEUSER I did not mean to offend you in any way.  I apologise for my negative post inresponse to yours. I was taken slightly aback by your response because I felt it a little harsh. I was sincere when I wished you a Merry Christmas. I do not want you feel offended because of me.
                                       Sincerely, Stephen

Siglite:
just guess holidays can be a bad time of the year. Words are just words but can wound and lead to retaliation and I apologize to you as well.

Stickman:
Just a reality check. Not a nobler position. But I don't get any better feelings when someone uses the ole "oh, I have a friend who is (fill in the blank)" As I had said, "Happy Holidays to one and all"

I was humbled as a child when I met with my direct family members who were survivors of the camps, crying because they had lost so much and had survived.

I am  humble everyday as I work as a Physician Assistant in a VA Medical Center caring for the medical needs of our Veterans who have sacrificed so much.

It has been my priveledge to meet a surviver of the Bataan Death March and care for his needs, among others, Every day I am able to say thank you for those who have died and to those men and woman who have survived to keep this nation free and defend what even occurred in this thread.

The Noble position I would and will claim is that I have dedicated my professional life to "Serve those who have Served us". And I do one hell of a great job as an individual trying  to keep up a standard of care for the broken bodies and spirits within a Bureaucracy(don't care which administration is in power) cutting those services that Abraham Lincoln set in motion.

Time to get ready for work as we , again, have 8 scheduled admissions from the homeless shelter or direct from the streets.
Now that is a national shame and offense against us all.

And I will continue to appreciate any advice from you about how I am doing with my new ARs.

Merry Christmas to you as well, armaliteuser!!

On a half joking note, you may be cussing the site this time next year. Between spending loads of spare time here, running up a big tab with the local accessory vendors, and treating your guns better than you do your family members will take a toll on your loved ones

Of course none of that will actually happen, but is the standing punch line around here.

Here's to a  happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!

This has went absurdly over the edge.

After all, America still is One Nation Under GOD.....RIGHT????

Or is it not...simply because my once favorite home store thinks they have to sale "Holiday Trees" now?

I'm tired of trying to make everyone happy.  I guess were not a country of "majority rules" any more.  Our Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves.

That's okay...some people understand you were also thanking all the people here, regardless of religious beliefs, even those who are not celebrating Christmas.

Two questions....

Which god?

And how long was the Pledge without reference to god before McCarthyism drove it in?

Have a nice day!

CELEBRATE THE SOLSTICE!

Ha!

Which God?  Like I stated....
The God that America ,as a majority, has faith in.  That would be...GOD!
Unless, of course, you think we are no longer a nation of "majority rules".   Seems we are on the edge.  Still haven't taken GOD off of my dollars and coins though.

Man...I wasn't trying to stir up a shitstorm...but I guess I did.

All I meant was this PC BS is getting out of hand. I was still mad about an e-mail I read right before posting my reply. Every card we got from our customers and vendors this year, not one mentions Christmas. Only "Happy Holidays" and "Have a wonderful season"...blah, blah, blah.

That and lack of sleep from my kids being sick and shit happening at work kind put me on edge.

For that, I apologize for what transpired.

armaliteuser:

My reply was in no way directed at you, per se.  It really isn't that big a deal, but this year, the whole Happy Holidays thing has just grated on my last nerve.  I am one of the last people to be expected to push Jesus down your throat.  In fact, I usually curse like a drunken sailor, but this is one time of the year that things are supposed to be more "Christian".

I am in no way offended by Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa or any other such religious observance.  I am, however, completely NON PC COMPLIANT.

Any way, Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah!

Isn,t this the Wrong forum for this ?
Link Posted: 12/21/2005 2:46:08 PM EDT
[#33]
Yes it is the wrong forum, but

Here is my 2 cents.

We (company)have been saying "Happy Holiday" for years, our card that we send out are also a "Holiday" card.  Do you think you will upset a customer by saying Merry Christmas to a Jewish customer.  Maybe yes maybe no, but customer relations are difficult enough to make a mistake that is easily avoided.  I don't feel there is anything wrong with "Happy Holidays" in a business context.  Now Holiday Trees just sucks---do other religons have Tree during their Holiday.....umm I don't know for sure but it definately is a Chirstian thing.

Now our person family cards go out Merry Christmas and has every year that I (my wife) has sent them.

To each his own....

Happy whatever the fuck you celebrate.

Edit because it is a little too over the top....I am not even mad.
