Hey Guys,  I need some help deciding on a new AR. I already have 2 M4 Style ARs.  So now my decisions are:

1.)  Pistol Build.  Note the Stripped Lower I have is already registered as a Pistol Lower.  My intention when getting it was to make a Pistol AR.  They look cool.  But not very practical.  Would just be for a fun plinker/conversation piece.  One day I want to build it, the next I'm having 2nd thoughts.  The other problem I keep seeing crop up on them is getting them to run consistently.  Seems to take alot of tweaking.  Something I'm not "necessarily" wanting to do.  When I pull the trigger I want it to go Bang.

2.) RRA Traditional 20" A2 Build.  I've always wanted to build one like this. This would be nice for longer range accuracy plus they are "cheaper" to build.  Moneys always a factor.  Thats why I'm also leaning in this Direction.

3.) RRA A4 Varmit Upper.  20" or 24".  This would be purely for target shooting.  Little Bit more Expensive than #2 choice.  If anyone has experience with either the 20" or 24" RRA Varmits, please let me know what you think of them.

Obviously you see my dilema.  An No Getting all 3 is not an option at this time.

AR pistols can be practical. One of our deputies has a Bushmaster carbon pistol and he took our department qualifying course and qualified with it. 100 yards, 50 yards and 25 yards were the distances. Nothing spectacular but it will get the job done. Plus he said he loves it.

Given your current possesions and dilemmas, here's my advise.

Build yourself or buy a 20" A3. Get the Carry Handle also.

Eventually, you'll start a secret ACOG savings account.

But you'll still want a pistol AR after that.  It never ends!!!  Run while you still have $'s!!!!!!!!

I started with a 20" A2, and now I want a 16" carbine...  The disease is upon me...

I have a RRA 24" Varmit upper and love it. Using BHBB 52 gr. M will average .75 MOA, 5 shot groups, sub .5 MOA when eveythhing comes together. If I did it again I would opt for the 20" barrell. The 24" pretty well limits you to benchrest shooting because of the weight.

i have an RRA 24" too and love it.  easily shoots 1/2" groups at 100.  very fun gun

I have the bushy 24" SS and love it. It is the one every one wants to shoot when we go to the range. In looking back I think I would go with a 20" also. I might have mine turned down at ADCO later. Hope this helps.

Without sounding like a complete nooblet.  When RRA says that the varmit model is chambered in .223 Wylde.  Can someone explain this?

Dissipator Style

Well I decided on the 20" A4 Std Upper with a Weaver Style FSB.  This will make a nice target gun.

Pete gave me a price on this that was out of this world and made my decision even easier.
