Does anyone know someone who fired their AR without the cam pin installed?

Does anyone have any pictures?

The shooter could always remotely fire the gun.

If people have enough money to shoot barrels until they glow (And destroy other guns), I'm sure someone has done this...

Maybe I am not understanding the mechanics right, but wouldn't the just fire the round and then jam?

As the round is fired the gas coming back hits the carrier key which drives the carrier to the rear.  The bolt, which should rotate its way out of the chamber, won't, so it will sit there.  Hence the carrier, without the cam pin but with the firing key and cotter pin, will continue rearward, hit the buffer, and head back forward.  Upon arriving back at the end of the bolt it might catch as the firing pin attempts to thread the needle back into the bolt (assuming bolt has not moved).  If it does manage to thread the needle it will just be sitting there with a spent round in the chamber (as it was never ejected initially).

Am I missing anything?

<<The bolt, which should rotate its way out of the chamber, won't, so it will sit there. >>

There is the error in your logic.  Without the cam pin, the bolt would never be rotated into the locked postition.  So, your are firing a round completely OUT OF BATTERY.  Party Time !!!!!

Yea id love to fire an AR with nothing keeping the pin level and stable with all that gas pressure and the bolt over rotating..the cam stops the bolt from rotating so far ..yes/no?With nothing holding the bolt in wouldnt the bolt be pulled out of the carrier by the extension lugs of the barrel at that high pressure...im thinking catasrophic failure.Theres a reason the military manual says it can explode if the cam pin is left out.Im thinking in the past forty years its already been tried for the warning to make it in the manual or am I missing something here. Why dont we start another fire it under water thread.

Don't be a dipshit. If you have pics of a "CATASTROPHIC PIN CAM FAILURE", fuckin post 'em; otherwise, label this thread "Pic request, no pictures inside".
Posting 101 HKShooter, not difficult stuff.

I've heard from a reputable source that firingan M4 without the cam pin causes the BC and buffer to try and puch its way out of the back of the buffer tube.  Ouch.

I figured that I would get more interest in my post and possibly a poster might have pictures.

As you can see the demand is here.

If I am not susposed to do this, let me know.

Thanks for fixing it. It's not against any rules I know of, it's just one of those unwritten things. Like if I started a thread that said in the title, "M855 delivered for $50 per case! Link! and then inside asked, "So, who's got a link? Anyone heard of a deal this good?"

Anyways, here's a bump for you and your pic request.

What would even make you think of this topic?

Do you plan on firing your AR without the cam pin, but want to see what'll happen before you do?
