Anyone done this?  Personally I think it looks funny but was wondering if there are any negatives to it other than looks.

I think it looks funny as well.

ETA And to answer your question, the Canadian military has done this.

The only negative other than looks that I can think of, is that when using a regular m4 collapsable stock, the balance of the rifle is kind of wierd.  With the heavier butstocks, like the magpul, it isnt a problem.  Just something I have noticed.

I know there was a thread on this topic awhile back ... does anyone know where to find it?  BTW ... the diemaco web site is down due to the purchase by colt.

A guy I worked with said when he was an Airforce Security police officer they used a full length m-16 with a collapsible stock. Dunno, he said alot of stuff, but I was always intrigued by that.

I don't see how the look of a rifle is a negative aspect.

The gun store I frequented before I moved had a stainless 24 inch bull barrel DPMS with a collapsible stock.

You tend to see a larger difference wearing layers of heavy clothing, armor, or doing close in work.  I don't like the look, but its functional.

Only collapsible stock "rifles" (the AF actually considered them smgs) I ever saw issued were the GAU/GUU-5/A/B/Ps.

Most convincing reason yet.

I remember seeing SP1's on the shelves with collapsible stock. They didn't look funny, they looked very odd.

My 20" rifle is wearing a collapsable stock right now.  I'm not sure if I'm going to leave it on, or change it back to the A2 stock.  I kinda like it....

You ever wear body armor and try to use a regular stock? Talk about PITA. I much prefer a collapseable stock any day.

It's called a "FULL SIZED CARBEAN".

And it SHOULD BE BANNED!

I was also of the "it looks funney" Till I tryed my LMT crane out on my HB. Fells better than the A2 stock. Especily when shooting of the bench. And it's a little more compact. What ever works for you I guess!

And after seeing this pic

I'm thinking that an M4 stock on a 20" rifle ain't all that bad of an idea after all.  Those guys aren't getting any kind of cheek weld.

I could post plenty of pictures showing the exact opposite.

Got a 6.8  w/20" barrel and adjustable, stock works great. When deer season come s and the heaveycloths go on., just pop the stock a notch or two and the fit is right where it needs to be. At the bench same thing, just fits better. Grandkids want a turn at the gun just shorten the stock. Has it uses.

Only saw one practical application, I had a vehicle driver under 5 feet, she needed a collapsible stock for her LOP.
