make an  AR in 45 that  takes thompson mags????

Not Thompson mags ( at least that I know of) but there was a AR made in 45 using M3 Grease gun mags. They actually made complete new lowers to house the magazines.  

The company was LaFrance. The last I heard (10 years ago) a company (selling nightvision) in Sacramento CA area was building them, but that was then. I wonder what's happening now?
