Was just wondering because I've been wanting to buy a SOPMOD and they have the option to add a heavy buffer and spring, is it worth it and what does it do?

I don't have one, but from what I gather:
Improve reliability
Reduce Bolt bounce
Reduce cyclic rate (if you have FA capabilities)

I've yet to have any issues with my standard carbine carrier and spring so i haven't replaced mine just yet (I still haven't free floated my barrel)

While I have no need for the heavier buffer spring I do run the 9mm buffer in 2 outta my 3 - M4 rifles (all 1/7 twist).

FWIW, I like the heavier buffer as there is "zero" recoil shooting BH 77grn. smk rounds and although they don't cycle as fast as the "h" type buffer in the 3rd M4 I like the no recoil of them for repeat/follow-up shots.

And YES, both rifles equipped w/ the 9mm buffers run 100%.

I done know if this applies to your needs. But, I had a 4-position collapible on a 20" HBAR DPMS Southpaw and was not able to cycle light loads like S&B ammo. Today I installed a full A2 stock that had heavier buffer and longer spring and my problem was solved.
