Short answer is yes.

Look on the EE, do a search, or post this question in the Lights... forum and you will have your answer.

For around $200 I would recommend the Pentagon X2 with the ARMS mount. JMO.

Check the lights and lasers forum.  You can also check with Grant at www.gandrtactical.com  He has some "working man's weapon lights" packages that look pretty good.

I'd also check Brightflashlights in the industry.  They also have some good deals on packages.  I run a Surefire 6P with a clickie tailcap and P61 lamp upgrade in a Vltor mount. Fairly inexpensive and works well.

Yes to both.  Talk with Calvin at Brightflashlights, he has some nice options.

One of the popular inexpensive options is a Surefire G2 with the Z32 anti-shock bezel, that should run around $50 or so.  If you can spend a bit over 100 you can get a Surefire Classic Weapon Light (650/950 series) which is the most durable light you can get in the price range.

Check out the TACM III light.  It's made of Delrin, won't bend or dent and is rated at 105 lumens.  After researching several tactical light manufacturers I went with this one.

If I don't get a railed forend and want to attach the flashlight mount directly to the handguards, what is a secure way to do it?

Are some of those bolt on rail units better then others?

which ones are recomended?

which ones are of poor quality?

I can save money to apply to a better light and mount if I don't get a 2-piece railed handguard like a YHM or an MI.

I'm trying to get the best bang for my bucks (which is probably about $200)

thoughts and opinions?

That is the worst light you could select for 'tactical' applications.  See my notes in that thread.

I think I'm going to go with one of the Pentagon lights.   I need to decide if I'm just gonna mount it to the handguards or get a 2-piece railed handguard and mount them to that.
