quickest way to check without going into what year was it made/serial number, or buy a caliper/micrometer, etc...just take a drill bit and use plain end to probe to see what fits in the take down hole

I can measure the pin - but that still won't tell me if it is large or mil-spec.  I need a diam of one or the other to compare mine to.

If memory serves me right

large hole colt = .315"

small hole (M16) = .250"
