Are the DPMS upper receivers cast??

Although I can't say with 100% certainty, I don't think they are.

I am positive their lowers are not cast.

I don't know about uppers.  They did have cast lowers, I have personally examined them.

They haven't made a cast reciever for a while - even then, you had a choice of forged or cast, no one bought the cast much so they discontinued it.  Their A1-A2-and A3 uppers however are all forged, hard coat annodized and teflon coated.  Their target uppers, the lo-pro and hi-rider are extruded, then hard coat and teflon
