I am not a Colt basher by any means, I love the product.  But I must wonder, why did they decide to stop selling AR's to civilians?  Do they feel as though current and future military needs will saturate their production?  Do they agree with the likes of Ted Kennedy that these rifles are too dangerous for civies???  If nothing else, it seems like a sell-out comprimise to the liberal side of our govornment.  It also sets a bad president, in my opinion, and they should reverse this decision.

Who cares?  Try A RRA lower with a 2-stage NM trigger and you won't even remember that a company named CLIT ever existed!

I am a civilian and have a Colt 6920.   Colt knows that the distributor I bought it from is selling to civilians (since I sent in a registration card).   That distributor still gets 6920s.

So, it seems that Colt does allow its distributors to sell to civilians.

The only difference I see between Colt and Bushmaster (or any other manufacturer) is that Colt will restrict its sales to a certain number of distributors.  Bushmaster will ship to anyone with an FFL.  That's not "anti-civilian" in my book.

Because they hate the 2nd Amendment and freedom along with Ruger and S&W, all of which were in bed with Clinton and helped that evil DIFI ban pass and deny us our rights for 10 years.

All Colt is good at is getting government welfare.

Colt certainly does inspire more than its share of jealousy, given the various bashing threads directed against Colt.

Might have something to do with lawsuits, even though a law of some sorts was passed recently releasing gun manufactureres from liability. My best guess would be if a Colt was used in a crime, the victims can't sue Colt because Colt doesn't sell to civilians. It might also be a stipulation that the .gov put in the Colt contract.

Who knows ? Really doesn't matter though, because if you want a Colt, you can get one.

Myth.  Show me where/when in writing Colt stated they have a policy of not selling to civilians.  I do remember a letter from Colt about selling LEO weapons only through LEO distributirs, but there was nothing saying an LEO distributor couldn't sell to civilians.

Am I crazy or does something sound wrong with this scenario?  Colt will sell to LEO, and they can sell to anyone?  What gives a LEO the right to sell a "restricted" product if other responsible dealers can't?  How is his judgement or legal position any different?
Please don't misunderstand, I once got one the same way, but I still think it is a racket.  Clearly, it must limit their liability against lawsuits and drive up the price of the guns.  They also must be hideing from any legal trouble, opening the door for liberals to say "if Colt stopped selling to the civilian market, they now see how dangerous their guns are in civilian hands".
Bottom line, if Colt is really OK with civilians owning their guns, they should stand by those that gave them so much business over all these years and make it easier for us to own them.
  God how I despise liberals.

Am I wrong in thinking that Colt will be out of business in 10 years??

Colt made a nice 6 shooter and they licensed a design for the M16; What do they do??

If I remember right it was the Colt that has the ugliest manufacturing facilities that was posted in 1911forum. It was very low tech compared to other manufacturers and it really hit me as a Colt owner. After what I saw I completely understand why their 1911 is so clunky, the reliabilty relation is a BS. On 1911 STI, SVI, CASPIAN and others made it tighter and runs like a champ. I don't buy Colts anymore not that they don't like civvies, but it's their technology that is a little backward. The reason they love to produce replicas and classics...

BTW I found luck on my ar15 RRA, reallly tight and shoot 1.5 MOA with irons and a bad eyes.. looking forward into getting a nice scope and see what it can do.

They do sell to civilians. They sell the liberal pleasing hermaphodites, and they sell the LEO models. Colt knows civies are buying LEO models, but they also know they make more money off of them over their neutered models. If Colt didn't want us to have LEO rifles, we wouldn't.

FN has a plant in South Carolina where they make the M16 (among other things). I believe the rollmark has "FN" inside an oval.

None of you anti-Colt whiners really get it.  Colt is not anti-civilian or pro-gun control or anything like that.  It's really quite simple, so read carefully.  Colt Makes it's money through government contracts.  Period.  It was like that when Sam Colt was around, and it's like that now.  Everything else is just a side deal.  Live with it.
