When installing the buffer tube, you must thread the tube in enough to hold the buffer retainer down. You only want the pin-like projection (that holds the buffer back) to be up enough to retain the buffer.
The trick to this is to thead the buffer over the body of the retainer till it stops against the top projection, then unthread to line up TDC of the tube, then bring the castle nut into play. Tex78 |

That would be the way to do it! Be carefull when unscrewing the stock, the spring and detent have a habit of flying across the room. |
