The XD is worth about $400.00 ( my cost on a new XD is $398.50 before tax and shipping).

I wouldn't . But I've seen several Colt AR's for 750 or so . I'd buy one (pistol) if I wanted it .

Unless you just hate the rifle you will regret getting rid of it.  I still miss several guns I sold.  Won't sell another if I don't have to.

I must agree. Keep the AR. Sounds like your friend want’s to initiate the trade and your not quite sure…walk away.  The XD 40 is nothing special and can be had anywhere, you would be loosing out.

Dont do it  the hell with the xd if it was a glock maybe ...
You should just keep the ar , and then if you want a "xd" then you can buy one , might want to look at glocks !!!

Good luck ...

tooly,

Just out of curiosity, why do you dislike the xd so much?

oh, i can't buy one.  i'm 19 so i can only get one FTF transfer.  it's not my only AR, and apparently he's willing to trade his XD for just one of my uppers.

Probably not worth it. I would say he would have to throw in $100 on top of his pistol to get an upper in trade. Besides it's an XD... (Don't mind my XD basshing, I just really dislike Springfield Armory.)

XD's are good guns and Glocks are good, As for the trade, if you are not 21 one cannot posses a handgun, even if it's given too you... you may shoot it but not own it...  stupid but true....hope this helps

Actually it varies from state to state. From my reading you can own a handgun at the age of 18 in NC. You just can't buy it from an FFL.

Alway did hate losing guns in trades. Keep the AR and buy the XD.

The 21 YO rule is a Federal Law that is mandated at FFL holders.

Actual possesion is set forth by the state.  With that being said there is a little flyer that must be handed out with every handgun that tells you what you can and can't do with it as far as transfers to minors.

Keep the rifle, before you know it, you'll be 21, and if you just can't wait, have your mom or dad buy one for you as a gift.  Once your 21, just have it transfered to your name.

NEVER TRADE A RIFLE FOR A PISTOL.  Never trade a rifle for a pistol and cash.

NO keep your rifle you'll regret it sooner or later. Just save up the money for XD if your interested.

well, i was about to trade, but i couldn't go through with it.  i'd miss my flattop too much.  the only reason i'd trade is for economical reasons.  i paid 270 for the upper, the XD is $469, so i figured it was worth it.
