excellent paint job on that rifle.   Somebody could make some $$$ by making a similar finish commercially available ..... hint  hint

Congratulation Smithy

That said and not to belittle his win or weapon but I find it pretty ironic that his gun won. All the crap people usually post around here about how these are tools, not art. Function over form, yada, yada, yada and yet the first weapon to be chosen as ARFCOM's AR15 of the month won because it had a "cool" paint job

I'm not trying to start any shit, I just found it funny in a sadly ironic sort of way.

I agree.
But that is a badass looking gun.  If I knew how to paint skulls on mine, I probobly would.

Now if there were poems or candy canes & flowers all over the weapon, I'd be like WTF!  But skulls are totally rad, to me at least.  Congrats smithy

I voted for it.  Also, I don't see how it wouldn't function just as well as any other AR

I IM'ed Smithy about a week ago to tell him I had nominated his rifle and that is was getting lots of votes but I haven't heard back from him. IIRC I believe he was headed out to NOLA for the relief efforts. If so he'll have a nice surprise when he gets home.

Thanks to everybody for all the compliments. Its done in duracoat. Istriped it with coyote brown then cut out some stencils of the skulls. I then painted over the skulls on my rifle and it turned out like this. I really like it. Ive painted my rifles a million times and ths is by far my favorite one. Sorry i couldnt reply earlier. I was in NO with the Oklahoma National Guard and hust got back yesterday. Thanks again!

Smithy,
Do you have any larger pics and/or closeups of the skulls?
