just about

just changed the A2 grip to a Hogue and added an o-ring
--it feels better and less wear (supposidly)

a stock AR will run fine as is

except it can be made more comfortable to shoot

if you get a scope, get good rings and a decent scope--chicome NOT recommended

stick to USGI mags

as to a vest, i got a cheapo mil-tec (german) mag jacket for $20 from CTD

get a good sling also

I use a plain 20'' A2.  I'm not very good, but I'm not bad either.  It depends more on your skill as a shooter than what cool gagets you have.  I personally don't see the need for 1000 dollars worth of accessories on my rifle.  I think I'm just as good/bad without them.  Lots of ammo will improve your shooting than a bunch of accessories.  And as for you Couch-Commando types out there with 15 pound M-4s,  please don't flame me.

My Colt R6520 is bone stock.  I like it that way and wouldn't add accessories.  If I wanted to I'd definitely drop some $ for a R6920...

any one use a stock rifle?

Yes, I've posted a few pictures here over the years, and most of them are all of stock weapons.  I tend to enjoy target shooting with my older style ARs, but for tac work, I still carry an enhanced weapon.

All I ever change out is a Hogue Grip, PRI Big Latch, and 1 piece gas ring,

I have a stock 20" A2 with A2 everything, FH, stock and even fixed carry handle.  The only thing I've done to it is add a Hogue grip, it also has a CQB solutions sling.  It's a lot of fun to shoot and quite accurate.

Does a telestock on a carbine count as a "gizmo" or is that standard equipment?

If so, then my rifles are all fairly stock (with a few exceptions).  No Hogue grips, no vertical foregrips, no funky space-age telestocks, etc.
20" A1/E1 -- plain jane
20" A4 -- 2-stage trigger (came w/ the lower)
16" V-match -- somewhat tricked out
11.5" SBR -- plain
14.5" M4 -- stock except for Aimpoint, CCH BUIS and auto sear (my favorite gizmo).

I use both a stock Colt M16A2 clone rifle and my LMT Defender 2000 16-inch M4gery.

The only thing that's not stock on my A2 is the Les Baer grip.

My A2 Colt stock components are M16A2 upper, BCG and CH, Match Target HBAR stripped lower, LPK and A2 stock.

Ref: IDF sling shown on my A2.

The only enhancements on my RRA M4gery are the RRA Dominator mount & my EOTech 512
My 20" A3 is a plain jane.

I paid top dollar for  a rifle that will perform well out of the box. A scope maybe in the future I can see.

My Slab side is in standard M16 config.

My A1 is in A1 config.

My A2 is in A2 config.

No bells and whistles. Only non standard part is the ambi selectors.

My only AR is my homebuilt Govt. Profile 20" A2. I tried to get it as close to an M16A2 as legally possible. No lights, lasers, ergo grips, m4-stocks, or widgets. Just enough to get the job done.

Irons are best.  I do have an aimpoint and LMT BUIS but that's about it.

the only thing my beowulf has that would change its cosmetic appearance would be the samco g27 grip and pri tac latch

internal would be mgi rate reducing buffer, mgi 2x buffer spring and the d-fender.

also have an m4gery which is only outfitted with krylon skin.

The out-of-box stock rifle was A-OK, but over past 4 years I have tweeked the AR.

* added aimpoint scope....good investment for a pair of eyes that are getting older
* when AWB expired  added flasher suppressor and M4 6 position stock

* just because..added magpul trigger guard and sling adapter ( same time as 6 position stock)

I enjoy the current set up  it is comfortable and is a great rifle, fun to shoot.  I guess it is a hobby.

also confirm that USGI mags is ONLY way to go.

These rifles are still somewhat new to me, and I just don't quite trust optics on my rifles yet.  Colt 6920 and RRA A2.

Standard grips, standard stocks on 3 ARs. But one does have the MagPul winter trigger guard. And, my-oh-my, it'll be on any new AR I build. The two with standard trigger guards are retro pieces so they won't get one.

I do.
20" Colt Ar15A2 Govt. pre-ban.
The only addition is the 'gapper'.
I love it.

I keep my Colt's stock (2 HBARS, 1 9mm(converted), 1 6520) but I've got a bushy with a custom built recce upper and an all built RRA that I'm adding some goo to. Wish i had some pics of the family....

KISS philosophy for now.  Only added a Hogue grip.

But I must admit that I want to to an M4gery build and accessorize it, but that will be awhile due to the financial side of it.

3 or 4 of my ARs are "plain-Jane"...  but most are dressed out as tacky as Courtney Love.
