I would like to build one of these as close to USMC version as possible, does anyone know exactly what this rifle consists of.
Thanks,

Is it the Trij NSN or the RCO?

I like the RCO better anyways, I just don't like the price.

Don't forget the USMC removable muzzle device.

You can get the 1/7 chrome lined a4 upper from Paul @ Bravo Company, and the KAC m5 RAS can be had on the EE or check one of MSTN's ads, he's got 'em...

It doesn't necessarily have to have the ACOG, it can just have the carrying handle.

Can someone direct me to the maker of the issue sling for the A4? It has the para cord attachement to the front sight post, etc.
Thanks!

There is no "issue" 3 point A4 sling. The issue sling is the standard green nylon M-1 Garand style sling. If you have seen other slings on the weapon it's becuase either the indvidual Marine bought one or his unit did. The old CQB solutions, now Spectre, slings are very popular (and sold at the PX), everyone in my unit has one.

Actually MARCORSYSCOM has just approved an assault sling for the entire Marine Corps.  TBS, IOC, SOI have them already.  Division units are starting to see their allocation.

20" 1/7 govt profile chrome lined, F front sight base.

KAC M5 RAS.

Carry handle was most common when I was in. ACOG TA31RCO-A4 is correct now, and I understand it's going to become standard issue. My unit had some TA31F's and even some compact ACOG's when we went to Afghanistan last year.

We had CQB/Specter slings.

Mine had an M203 and a 3-position selector, too, but it would cost a little more to clone those.

ETA: Like Sigurd said

I believe it is now the Trijicon ACOG TA31 RCO-A4

****SEE IT HERE****

I think you can get the upper from sawlesales soon (20" govt. profile, 1/7 ROT, A3 Colt) and for that matter- mate it to one of their Colt LE lowers.

You can, but it is Post Ban upper.  Bare muzzle and no bayonet lug.

Is the "f" stamp necessary ont he 20" bbl's? I thought this was an early m4 issue only. I am of the understandint that you could have any A3 colt flattop receiver and mount an M16A2 bbl and you would have an A4 upper...

Yes you need the "F" FSB if you have a flattop, otherwise you will not be able to zero your irons.

Or you could use the correct height front sight post if you don't have the "F" maked front sight base.

Is the reverse a problem, if you have fixed A2 upper but an F marked front site base?

Are these being issued with BUIS?
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 3:25:15 PM EDT
[#22]
Although most Marines refer to them as just A4s, they are all now being issued as MWSs, with the M5 RAS.

Right now BUISs are unit or user bought , although SysCom has been looking at a standardized one.  The big issue is many think since a carrying handle is issued, than that should be carried and used if the RCO goes down.

Is this the "new"offering, or one that has been long-available?

My correspondence - which I saved and am looking for- suggested otherwise. But you know how these things go......

Technically, you would have to use a non standard, therefore incorrect, sight base .

My advice is to try it first - my Blue Label 20" barrel worked fine with no change to the FSP.

Why doesnt the USMC go with a collapsible stock to shorten the pull while wearing armor?  The Canadians did this with their 20" rifles

As usual, lumpy is correct.  The TA31F is the called the Advanced Combat Optic (ACO).  The Marine Corps is now purchasing the RCO.

Actually both the 31F and the 31F RCO were referred to as either just ACOGS or Boresight, Rifle Optical.  When I got a shipment of them in, my supply chief had no idea what they were, he thought because of their nomenclature, they were some kind of boresighter for the guns.

I built one like that, even painted the plastic green.  BTW, Colt bought out  Diemaco.

When Gen Jones was Commandant he stated that would be looked into, however he went on to EUCOM and it left the radar screen.

Some of the original reasons given for not wanting the M4 and its collapsible stock were that at cold weather training at Ft McCoy, several froze in one position, someone determined that the stock wasn't strong enough for a butt stroke and the stocked could not be planting while getting down during rushes.

This is the latest build I did its my loose interpetation of an A4
Its all bushmaster parts 1/7 Guvment chrome lined barrel. Knights M4 RAS FF wich as far as I know isnt the proper handguard for this rifle but I wanted it there. I used the TA31A for the primary optice but also have a Swarovski and an Aimpoint if needed.
SO far the rifle has been super for me I think this rifle is done.

Here's my attempt:

Bushy lower
magpul 93B
KAC 600m BUIS
KAC M5
KAC VFG
Magpul grip
ER Shaw 20" 1/7 mated to a CMT upper

I know its a TA01NSN on there now, waiting for some more funds to get the RCO-A4, then the NSN will go back on my M4gery

I know that the KAC M5 RAS is the one true handguard for an A4. But that new two piece rifle length rail from MI is looking really good. Especially if you can't afford the M5.
