I recently purchased a scanner and have been messing around with it a bit. One cool feature that comes with the photo editing software is the B & W conversion. I’ve always been a big fan of B & W photos since my days in High School Photography class.

There’s just something different about a pic in B & W, it’s hard to explain. B & W does seem to bring out more detail I think.

Here are a few pics I edited and converted.

You might remember this pic, I’ve posted it before. Me in Iraq during Desert Storm with one of our capture AKs.

Me dressed up in Tiger Stripe Viet Nam camo. This was 1988 in Germany. My CAV unit put on a "History of the CAV Soldier" presentation for an officers dinner. We had unit members dressed up in period costumes from all the major confrontations.

Me with my M16A1 sitting in my aircraft. Germany, 1985.

Our 60 position, Iraq, Desert Storm

Me during Desert Storm.

Some more modern pics.
My latest build, CAR/GUU clone.

My M4gery.

My M4 and my sons CAR/Guu clone.

Great photos.  I almost like the old stuff more than the new.  How did your 60 perform in Desert Storm?

It never fired a single shot in anger. But after the war when we had to use up all the ammo we carried, it performed like a champ.

I've heard the main drawback is the barrel change.  How hard is it, really?  Was yours made by Saco Defense or US Ordnance?

Oh, man I have no idea who made that 60, let alone remember how to swap out barrels........it’s been a while!

And edited to add: I was aviation not infantry!
