No, we're not being dicks about it. If anything, we are making fun of ourselves (at least I am!) I color the "Fire" and "Safe" on all of my AR's, and color in the lettering on my Glock pistols too. It is ÜBER TACTICÜL. In fact, it's the envy of mall ninja's EVERYWHERE!!!

I used Crayons to do mine. People have had success with China Markers too, but I couldn't find any white ones locally.

I use model paint. Kinda hard to see in the pic but here you go.
 How bright it is will be dependant on how deep the engraved markings are and how much wear they have on them. And my 1911 right after I got done painting. You can still see some paint residue but it comes right off with Hoppes.  |

I don't get it...I just do not get it. I guess I just don't understand why anyone would do this considering it does nothing to enhance the reliability, function or accuracy of the rifle. Conversely, it does nothing detrimental to the rifle.
Please understand I'm slamming anyone who does this. I used to have an HK-94. It had colored markings and I never gave it a second thought but I'd never consider coloring the markings on my AR. However, I would get an AR finished in camo and I don't go trouncing through the brush stalking my (silohuette) targets either.

I think you had colored markings on your H&Ks because that is how they came or were supposed to be- not because you wish you had one like some people.
Sure it falls under the category of "It's your rifle, do what you want" but it also falls under other categories like  Do you go to the range with your grandfather? Why are you coloring your rifle? That's what coloring books are for!!! |

Get yourself some enamel paint pens from the hobby shop. One Red one White. Tape off the area surrounding the areas ya wanna paint. Carefully paint the F and S and use alcohol to remove the excesss paint b4 it dries. Worked on my Saigia.

I actually kind of like it if you only do the safe and fire and the red is not too bright. Its when you do the rest of the markings that I start to wonder WHY????

This is ar15.com right? Just checking.  SPRAY PAINT! Spray a little bit onto a paper plate, dab a Q-tip into the paint and then onto your gun, let dry for a few minutes and wipe off the excess with a rag. |
