It varies quite a bit from year to year, and from company to comany....  Do you have a picture, or can you post a picture that shows a color you would like it to be?

Below is a picture of a CAR15 upper that I refinished.  The upper is Norrells Colt Gray/ GrayishBlack, and the lower is the typical pure satin black that most companies make right now.  

You can see the difference is pretty large.  Note that the lighting in this picture is making everything seem lighter than it actually is.....

I would want it to be black to mach the Stag or RRA lower that it will go on.

For best match, send in the upper and lower.
