I was wondering what type of lower (and upper) I have on my AR15.
Hopefulley the pics work.
The only mark I can find on the upper is a symbol like a key hole with 3 dots in it, just above the assist.
[and yes, I have posted this exact msg somewhere else with little feedback so far]

The pics SHOULD work.
The lower has this stamped on it;
CUSTOM 15
AR15 A3
5.56MM
SP604008

The only mark on the upper is the keyhole thing mentioned. Its a flat top.

Cheers in advance

While only being able to see one side, a geuss, hombuilt off of an 80% receiver maybe?

Cool! One I have never seen before.
The Keyhole is similar to the Cerro Forge marking, although typically it does not have the three dot, perhaps this is some early variation. Cerro makes forgings for various manufacturers.
With your permission I'd like to use these in my tacked receiver thread.

_DR. Go right ahead. Where is the thread?

I can photograpg the other side of the receiver, but there aint much to see.

I'm picking the SP##### part is a serial number. There was a web page that had AR serial numbers on it, but I cant find it now.

The reason its a custom I guess is because it has a 20" Oly Arms heavy barrel on it (which Im goin to get re-profiled - its to heavy) Oh, it has a Jewell Trigger.

Im a BIG novice to AR's so amuse me. I love this thing, even though the gun oil is hard to get off my bed linen

millsie, the thread is here

it's tacked at the top of this forum. If you get darker colored sheets you won't notice the oil stains

I have never seen a lower with that rollmark before

The lower is very likely custom.

You can't tell who made the upper by looking at the forging mark on the receiver.

Millsie, you have a local put together parts gun. I'm assuming GC have someone finishing off 80%  finished recievers imported as paperweights. This would be to avoid having to having to go through the legal import route. They arn't too forthcoming about how it all comes about. I assume you have an A cat rifle, I'd be surprised if the cops had let it be E cat. If it works well, enjoy & have fun with it.

Certainly. Gimme a moment or two to gather pictures and post a comparison image.

Hunterex.

Na, cant see what your referring too mate. The red one and the bottom one [mine] look the same.  What are you referring too.

Lets face it guys, you need people like me to ask the dumb questions.

The section at the front of the magwell toward the top where it meets the takedown pin. A1 styles don't have the extra "meat" supporting the pin like the more ramped transition of the A2 style.
