Any difference in a match target HBAR besides for the heavy barrel?  Are these built because they are easier to make by not turning down the barrel, or is there an actual superior accuaracy potential?

They have potential to stay more accurate for more successive shots. The bbl stays cooler longer than a govt profile bbl. However once it heats up it also takes longer to cool.

Heavy barrel it the only difference.

I think you are probably right, T-Gun, but technically speaking, the poster didn't offer what it was different from.

If you are talking Match Target vs Match Target HBAR......yes its the Heavy barrel.

But if you're talking what's the difference in a MT HBAR and a...say M4, or M16, or even an LE model.......... the list grows.

I think the designation Match Target was intended to a denote civilian model- the ones with all of the neutering features like trigger groups, barrel lengths and types - and perhaps more.

There are a couple, or so, states that ban the name "AR15" specifically. So Colt came up with an new name, "Sporter Match HBAR" and "Sporter Target" for the A2 w/govt profile barrel, but these were still preban rifles. Had the flash suppressor but lacked the bayonet lug.

After the ban they renamed the line "Match Target/HBAR". So the name only really means it's a postban configured rifle. Not that it's some special ultra accurate range rifle. Although that's what they want the anti's to think.
