I have a RRA stock. I’m happy with it, can’t comment on the CMT. You should be able to get a new RRA stock for a lot less than $100, more like around $60.

think that cmt comes on a "mil-spec" tube
what that means is it will work with the vltor, lmt etc... |

The CMT uses a mil spec buffer tube. If you might add a VLTOR or similar stock later this might be an issue.

They are both okay, but as stated the RRA is not a mil-spec tube. You can get the CMT in either the new M4 style or the older CAR style. A complete kit will run you $65 - $75 dollars.
Eventually you may want to upgrade or change stocks, so the mil-spec tube is good to have. I have three now, all CMT, and love them. ( I also have a Vltor) |

I have both the RRA and the CMT. Get the CMT - as others have pointed out the CMT has the proper RECEIVER EXTENSION, so if you want to buy a VLTOR or Crane stock down the line you're good to go.
The Cav-Arms uses the commercial reciever extension, not the military one. Cav Arms stocks (the plastic portion) will fit on a Military Spec Receiver Extension, but it will rattle. |

Cavarms makes stocks for most of the non-milspec OEM manufacturers. |

Go with the CMT, once you see the difference between that and the RRA you'll never want an RRA type again

Another CMT vote. It's a mil spec tube plus I'm pretty sure they don't dowse them in Loctite.

There is nothing wrong with a RRA stock, until you put it next to one of the other stocks made by Cav Arms. I know they both function fine, but the Cav one looks 100% better.

Thanks for the help, one more question. Is there any benefit to the heavy buffer in a semi-auto? I noticed Eaglefirearms.net has stocks listed under Stag & Eagle parts. One is out of stock & other shows available. Descriptions are identical. I assume they are one & the same stock kit. But I've assumed before & we all know the rest of that story.

As for which stock is which on eagle's site, I can't say. Mine came in, but I haven't opened the package yet. I'll open it tonight. As for the buffer.....maybe. If your barrel is 16" or less, get the heavy buffer. Heavy buffers basically slow things down, which is sometimes necessary in the shorter guns to get them to function properly. You probably don't, in all honesty, NEED a heavy buffer, but it certainly won't HURT anything.  edit: I checked the stock numbers for the 2 M4 stocks with heavy buffers, and they are the same. I can't say if the stock numbers for the standard-buffer stocks are the same or not, as the one that is out of stock doesn't have a link pointing to the item number anymore. Also, as the stock numbers for the 2 different stocks with the heavy buffer are the same, I am unsure as to why the prices are different for them. If I were you, I'd go ahead and spend the extra $5 for the heavy buffer. YMMV. |

Thanks arowneragain, yeah I found what you did by checking the stock #'s closer. I went ahead & ordered the H buffer. Like you said, I figured it couldn't hurt. Also couldn't help myself & picked up a few more 30 round non teflon coated mags.

The Hbuffer is the stuff, if you like rapid firing and staying on traget it helps alot.

The stocks that Eagle sells are the CMT. They have an ad in the equipment exchange for them, and I got two of mine from them. They are not marked in any way.

It's a very solid, well built stock. Very tight and no rattle. I'm impressed. I love it! |

Got mine yesterday & put it on last night. Looks good, & very little rattle. I noticed mine does not have the serrated lever? Guess they changed that. Stock is not marked anywhere.
