I have had good luck with up to 69 grain bullets. 62's do great. 69 grains is the heaviest I have tried in 1x9. Just picked up a new Bushy barrel in 1x7 that I am going to try some bullets in the 70's range.

A lot of the 9 twists we build will shoot 75 gr fine, some will shoot 77's. All will shoot 69 gr okay. Above 68-69 gr it really depends on the particular barrel.

I have one that will shoot 75gr fine, and one that won't.
Surprisingly, it's the 11.5" that likes them, and the 16" tumbles them. |

100yds, used the detachable carry handle as optics(on the CAR upper it shot to the left, on the MID it shot to the right). I held center mass, and let the groups go where they go.. Sorry for the flyer on the bottom right, I'm not used to 9lb standard triggers.
Groups on the left were shot with the 16" CAR chrome lined 1:9 barrel(same as the DEA is issued) Groups on the right were shot with the 1:9 chrome lined MID. The groups toward the top are 75gr TAP, the groups on the bottom are 77gr. HSM. YMMV  |
