Don't take this as gospel, but those were in Colts from the mid 80s through the very early 90s.

They were in the R6600, which came out in late 80s.

Late '80s? Was it a measure to stop post '86 MG's, or did they know about the AWB before we did? |

The 89 Bush Executive Order was around that time. Colt was trying to do things voluntarily to head off AW legislation. Sear blocks and deleting bayonet lugs. Obviously, it didn't work..  Lonny |

It was one of Colt's attempts to appease the anti-gun govt ppl... they went the extra mile to make sure Colt's could not be converted easily by using a DIAS or Lightning Link.
Large pin fire control groups are another of Colt's futile attempts to keep the govt from regulating AR-15s... it didnt work and the Clinton Assault Weapon ban was enacted in 1994. LB |

OK, reason I am asking is my 89 A2 does not have one. It does have a GS SN# but other 89 90s I have seen do have the steel block. It has the reg cut out that a 16 has sans the hole for the auto sear. I was looking at one in the shop a few days ago and it did have the steel block in it. Was supposed to be from 89 also. Thanks, appreciate it all. |
