i've been saving for a year and i finally have $1000 to spend.  i've narrowed it down to a rock river tactical car a4 or a bushmaster bcwa3f 16.  i obviously don't have the option to buy both, so a little input from you guys would be great.  this would be my first ar.  i'll be mostly target shooting and using it for home defense.  any help would be appreciated.

from the consensus you folks say the bushmaster is a better buy, but why?  what comes standard on the bushmaster that makes it stand out over the rra?

Both are good weapons, I like the Bushie, but would use either without any heartburn.

I own two bushmaster 20" and an RRA Entry Tactical. . I dont think you can go wrong either way. Personally, I think RRA is the better bang for the buck though

Best thing to do is write down the features you want in your gun, and determine which company most closely offers what you want. Then go and handle the guns, work the controls, trigger, observe the build quality. You'll know what appeals to you if you do this a few times

Buy exactly what you're looking for and the brand on this side loses its meaning. Buying by brand alone is the act of a cultist

Check out the SEBR, a Bushmaster M4, the no ban version looks sweet.

RRA you won't think twice.  Everyone has a bushy, why not buy something that only Delta uses haha

Did you ever have to make up your mind?
Pick up on one and leave the other behind...
It's not often easy and not often kind...
Did you ever have to make up your mind?

Did you ever have to finally decide?
Say yes to one and let the other one ride...
There's so many changes and tears you must hide...
Did you ever have to finally decide?

- OR -

The patented Arfcom answer:  Get both! (I can't believe nobody had said it yet...)

But, seriously, as said above either should serve you well: Good luck!

Get the RRA.  Then save some more money and buy a SOCOM 16.

"I've Made Up My Mind" by Heywood Banks

I have lipstick for my frontal lobe
I have powder for my brain stem
I have rouge for my cerebral cortex
My medulla oblongata

I have a brain that looks so fine
Sitting high atop my spine
With a brain that looks this way
I’ll be prepared when people say:
“Make up your mind”

(sitar solo)

I have a handsome hypothalamus
Pretty cerebellum
On my occipital lobe is Maybelline
Hypoallergenic

I have a brain that looks so fine
Sitting high atop my spine
You could do an autopsy
And open up my brain to see:
I’ve made up my mind

I just picked up a Rock River chrome lined entry tactical this morning.  The fit and finish are every bit as good as the Bushmaster that I own.  I am VERY pleased so far
