It's an Armalight 16" carbine with lightweight barrel, flash suppressor, Tango Down grip, Surefire
M900, Trijicon TA11D with Arms #19S mount, Arms #40L rear sight, GG&G flip up front sight, VLTOR
clubfoot adjustable stock with the .308 receiver extension and stock pad, Magpul XT panels, a Specter
Gear 3 point sling with a QD sling swivel on the stock, Magpul trigger guard, and an ambi-safety.  We tried
to put on the ambi-catch, but the magazines wouldn't load properly, so we went back to the original magazine
release.

I plan to get a new free-float forend and flip up front sight.

I'm pretty happy with it, and plan to shoot it tomorrow at the FDCC match.

Looks great new-argirl!

We plan to be out there at the FOP tommorrow too. If it doesn't rain.

BTW
Why did you go with the Armalite instead of Bushmaster? Bushys .308 can us FAL mags too.

Thank you!
It's between the Daniel Defense rail(lighter), and the LaRue rail(cheaper).
I'm guessing my bank account will dictate that I go with the LaRue.

We all look forward to seeing you at the shoot.

Any chance you could get us a weight without the optic and light?

BTW, if you (or someone you know) has dealer pricing at Brownells, the Daniel Defense rails are very inexpensive.

Thanks for the info.

I'll weigh it on Tuesday, and let you know.  I can tell you this-  it's definitely the heaviest rifle I have!  It inspires me to hit the gym!

Congrats!!

I pick mine up today, except it's an A4 rifle, not a carbine.  Then off to ADCO for a DD rail and GG&G front sight install.

I'm going with the DD, cuz' I got money coming out of my wazoo.  But seriously, I like the DD rails, and after handling bigbore's carbine, I was hooked.

DD'd new AR10 rail is much pricier than their AR rails. Does Brownells carry the new DD AR10 rails? If so, thats great.

I'm not sure.  They don't appear to list it on the website, but you can always call and often they will order stuff for you that's not listed.  May be worth a call if you have the discount.

The folding GG&G FSB?  Will it work with an AR-10?  I thought I once read Zak state that AR-10 uppers sit to high compared to AR-15 uppers so that it wouldn't work properly.

Can we get a pic of you holding/shooting that rifle?  I would think it would be too heavy for a female to shoot offhand comfortably, support one handed during mag changes etc. is any of that an issue for you?  Have youhad to modify your stance, mag changes etc?

I would think youd want the lightest possible.  Id also think the M900 would be the last thing youd want on a rifle that heavy.  If weight is not a concern Id get a Larue over DD.  Otherwaise DD.

The very first time I took the new AR-10 out to shoot it, I discovered a feed problem.  After successfully firing one round, it would not feed properly.  We sent it back to Armalite for some work.  They worked on the feed ramps and the gas carrier key (they said it was loose).  I'll take it out on Sunday to the FDCC shoot and see if these repairs took care of the problem.  I was VERY disappointed, but now that it's back, I'm pleased and excited again - can't wait to see how it does.

New-arguy weighed the rifle today.  With light, etc., it weighs in at 12 pounds! Yes, it is heavy, but Dev, I think I'll be able to manage to shoot it offhand. I'll report back on that.

I plan to try the ambi-catch again to see if it will work now.  That really helps me out with mag changes.

The repairs seem to have the rifle working just fine.  We put about 60 rounds through, and had only one FTE - and it occurred while using the really cheap Winchester ammo.  Other than that one incident, I'm pleased as can be.

Try firing a .308 machine gun (not the ATF definition of an MG, but a real GPMG type) from the shoulder at 850rpm, that'll give ya a new meaning to recoil

Sorry, but I was trying to be silly and subtly suggest a full body shot.  I tried too hard to be subtle I guess.  I didn't want to offend either of you and I hope I still haven't.
