Looks great new-argirl!
We plan to be out there at the FOP tommorrow too. If it doesn't rain. BTW Why did you go with the Armalite instead of Bushmaster? Bushys .308 can us FAL mags too. |
Thank you! It's between the Daniel Defense rail(lighter), and the LaRue rail(cheaper). I'm guessing my bank account will dictate that I go with the LaRue. |
I went Armalite because a good deal came my way that I just couldn't pass up! We all look forward to seeing you at the shoot. |
Out-Frickken-standing!
Tell us how it shoots after the Match tommorrow! |
Man, for a moment I was thinking "boy the magazine in that ar-15 looks kinda funny, and the ACOG looks a tad small...ooooooohhh, duh!"
you and NAG (wait, you're NAG too ) make us OAGs (old-arguys) look bad
Thats I am JEALOUS.
A new weapon with extras right off the bat. I need a better paying job. Nice set up enjoy it and lets us get a range report when you can. |
Looks great.
Make sure you post back with you AAR on how you did and how the rifle worked for you. WIZZO |
Any chance you could get us a weight without the optic and light?
BTW, if you (or someone you know) has dealer pricing at Brownells, the Daniel Defense rails are very inexpensive. |
DD'd new AR10 rail is much pricier than their AR rails. Does Brownells carry the new DD AR10 rails? If so, thats great.
Thanks for the info. I'll weigh it on Tuesday, and let you know. I can tell you this- it's definitely the heaviest rifle I have! It inspires me to hit the gym! |
Congrats!!
I pick mine up today, except it's an A4 rifle, not a carbine. Then off to ADCO for a DD rail and GG&G front sight install. I'm going with the DD, cuz' I got money coming out of my wazoo. But seriously, I like the DD rails, and after handling bigbore's carbine, I was hooked. |
Dont worry, you werent out of the loop or anything. I built that gun for another guy many months ago and he came back because he needed to sell it. This was a spur of the moment purchase at a deal too good to pass. The gun is absolutely positively unfired, he sold it for a fair amount less than I could have built one at dealer cost, plus threw in some significant extras, including all the ammo he picked up the day he bought it. If I didnt just pay for my MRP (its in the mail woo-hoo!!) I'd have snagged it myself for sure. I've wanted this gun from the day it came together and left with the guy. Im happy Kerri has it now though. If Im nice to her, she said she might let me shoot it! |
I'm not sure. They don't appear to list it on the website, but you can always call and often they will order stuff for you that's not listed. May be worth a call if you have the discount. |
The folding GG&G FSB? Will it work with an AR-10? I thought I once read Zak state that AR-10 uppers sit to high compared to AR-15 uppers so that it wouldn't work properly. |
Just twist that knife a little more why dont you....Her with the AR10 Car. and you with the MRP....... I expect they will be brought over for examination????? |

Can we get a pic of you holding/shooting that rifle? I would think it would be too heavy for a female to shoot offhand comfortably, support one handed during mag changes etc. is any of that an issue for you? Have youhad to modify your stance, mag changes etc?
I would think youd want the lightest possible. Id also think the M900 would be the last thing youd want on a rifle that heavy. If weight is not a concern Id get a Larue over DD. Otherwaise DD. |
Of course, John, along with a cheesecake. |
You go girl! I also hear your Cheesecake is worth shooting someone for! I am a cheesecake SUPER FREAK and have ZERO issue with this requirement. C4 |
That's news to me. I'll have to ask bigbore and Zak. |
I like you and all.....but back AWAY from the cheesecake......its MINE..... |

The very first time I took the new AR-10 out to shoot it, I discovered a feed problem. After successfully firing one round, it would not feed properly. We sent it back to Armalite for some work. They worked on the feed ramps and the gas carrier key (they said it was loose). I'll take it out on Sunday to the FDCC shoot and see if these repairs took care of the problem. I was VERY disappointed, but now that it's back, I'm pleased and excited again - can't wait to see how it does.
New-arguy weighed the rifle today. With light, etc., it weighs in at 12 pounds! Yes, it is heavy, but Dev, I think I'll be able to manage to shoot it offhand. I'll report back on that. I plan to try the ambi-catch again to see if it will work now. That really helps me out with mag changes. |
I'd like to take a look at it again if you dont mind. Also, let me know how it runs Sunday, |
Will do, John. Will you be able to join us on Sunday?
I'll make sure you get to see it soon, I promise. |
Personally, I have no doubt she could kick someones ass and take care of the "little lady" attitude quite easy. |
Get the DD the contionous DD ar10 rails are super sweet. Make sure you get the 12"
I think she could kick DevL's ass! C4 |
I ordered the 12" Daniel Defense rail for it today. I'll post pix once it's on the rifle.
next action shot needs to show all the way down to your feet. We need to know what kind of stance you are using when firing the .308
You guys make it seem like .308 will knock someone over. In my experience, any grown person can shoot about any standard caliber if they are willing to use propper technique. .308 is big, but its not REAL big. |
Try firing a .308 machine gun (not the ATF definition of an MG, but a real GPMG type) from the shoulder at 850rpm, that'll give ya a new meaning to recoil
Sorry, but I was trying to be silly and subtly suggest a full body shot. I tried too hard to be subtle I guess. I didn't want to offend either of you and I hope I still haven't.
