This gun took a long time to finish. But, I did it CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!
I got a complete post ban Colt 20" HBAR A2 upper from a guy in trade for building a few rifles for him. That was a great, great start to this project. I lucked out and found a guy who actually wanted the A2 upper in trade for his Bushmaster A3. I bought a RRA lower for $100 and already had all the spare parts I needed to build the lower up. I just found the M5 RAS on the EqEx for $275 and it came with all the pannels, the forward grip and a YHM bipod mount I will probably resell. I had to buy the TA31f and the Troy back up sight. I also bought that HK mag you see. Nice mag, but I dont think they are all that to be so much money. I got the barrel turned down and threaded by ADCO. It took me forever to get it done, but there was very little I had to put into it to get it done. So this gun came together for cheap!   Along with new-argirls A4 and her new M4

Do you see that FS when using the ACOG? I am building one in this config and am trying to figure out if I should use a gas block or fixed sight.

If you really look for the front sight you will see it. If you arent trying to see it and looking at your targets, you will never notice it at all.

 Nice job. I had an A4gery, minus the ACOG, but sadly, I sold it.  It is now serving time somewhere in Iraq.

Thanks everyone... One day I will have to take a picture of the whole collection between myself and new-argirl. The stock is in fact a LMT Crane... I just added Krylon. Here's another one I did in tan. I know the pic makes it look white, but its actually a pretty nice sand/tan color. I like it quite a bit.

I know! The Colt upper was postban all the way so there was no lug on the gas block. However, I have a few Bushmaster blocks with lugs off of guns I built for others who wanted some sort of alternate gas block. I think tomorrow I will see if any of them will match up with the barrel. I'd like to have the lug, but for the price I paid for the upper (i.e. nothing!) Im not complaining.

 Inspiring, to those of us with new-20-fever. BTW: do you use your TA55 on the carbine, or is that for the photo-op? I have never used/handled the TA55 (5.5x50 I believe) but would envision it being very useful in those 300-yarders on out. Rifle territory. Just curious. |

I've been wanting to do one of these for a very long time. It took me long enough to get it done. I'd say its been about a year since the guy gave me that upper. That was when the project "started" I suppose. I zerod the optic and irons a couple weeks back while I still had the standard handguards. I'll probably get a sling at some point, in fact I probably already have an extra one in my box somewhere.
