From your original post you and many others use the term (un-fired)
I do not want to sound like a smart ass but, what is the chance of that.
I have seen commemorative rifles advertised from the manufacturer that they have never been fired and are being sold specifically as collectors items. To me this is the only unfired weapon and has been certified as such by the manufacturer.
It is was and always has been my understanding that all weapons that leave the factory get test fired. Every weapon I have bought has been test fired. I had to clean them I know.
Maybe I am making a mountain out of a mole hill on this but, the gun was fired.
My friend was selling a hand gun S&W 357 revolver, he only put 12 rounds through it.
He was asking retail price for it but did not get it because it was used.
I guess I need to know the dividing line between new and used.
If you buy a new car how many miles need to be on the odometer before one would consider it as used. 0-10, 10-50, 100 or more or less?
To me I understand that the car needs to be moved around to get from here to there.
But in my opinion 0-1 would be new. After that well to me it is used.
If the Dealer can’t sell the car as new after you drive it a few tenths of a mile on a public road. Even if you just go out one driveway of the dealership and into the next it becomes a used car. My point is that the life expectancy on a car is say 150,000 miles and after ten miles it is considered used. Then if the life expectancy of an AR is only 8,000 rounds even one round would make it used. I do not know the actual life of the average AR.
What would be an average number of rounds can you put through an AR?
Ok so for the sake of the argument I feel that it is to be understood as follows.
We must consider that a weapon from the factory even though it has had one to three rounds through it should be deemed as a new un-fired weapon.
The term un-fired needs to be understood as to the fact that the owner(s) of the weapon
Have never fired it. Though I don’t agree with this I will hesitantly except it….. I guess.
I am sure this will create a flame war and is/was not meant to. Caver101 I also did not intend to offend, disrespect, or single you out.
I am just attempting to make a general overall point. I don’t like to be fooled with verbiage. When I fill up my gas tank and look at the price $1.99.09 I see it as $2.00 not a $1.99, Because that is what it is.
Rollyman out!
