Its a good question, prdatr1

It has been done before but you may get some new input.

Here are some of the others to date...........How much invested in your AR?

Here was my entry................................

favorite AR was ~$1,000.

Most expensive one would be an M4gery at around $3,000..

Guess it would rate favorite, now that I think of it. ($$)

This one below also ranks..

Nice A4gery, WIZZO.

would you recommend a factory rifle or a build for a standard 20"er?

I tend to be a carbine guy but am determined to have a stock 20 A4. yours looks good, and frankly I cannot decide whether it is worth the premium to me to have factory matching components or not

I guess I am asking whether your 20 has proven dependable.

I recomend building because you can still pick the parts you want.

It just so happens that I wanted to use RRA parts becaues they are a local company with a good reputation.

I bought all these parts (except for the upper assembly) separately, but made sure that they were all for Rock River, just because that's what I wanted.

It totaled out to be about $790 total, but the retail prices would have been much more than that.

Basically, I have a RRA A4 (which you can get for about $765) but I also have the detachable carry handle for only, when relating to the price you can get the rifle for, $25.

I'm really happy with it, and it had on of two FTF's when I (actually when my dad wanted to shoot it, but I think he must be bad juju) other than that, it has been a great shooter, but I need a taller front site because it's up quite a bit above the flat part of the FST.

I only feed it Wolf, and clean after every two shooting sessions, and it hasn't hiccuped on me since breaking it in.

I've got 3 AR's that I have roughly 2000 each into them, I've got a basic M4forgery that cost about 1300 (900 dollor pre ban lower), and about 2000 grand total in my Bushmaster 308....

My current shotgun project should run close to 1000 bucks

The cheapest gun that I own is my Glock 19, bought it for 300 bucks used...

I need to sell my boat and maybe a kidney......

The 3 I have right now total about 5200, but I've prob had about 10k in ARs over the course of the past few years.  One is going through a slight change of purpose, which is causing me to do more shopping.  There's also some extra "stuff" lying around...like VLTORs and assorted other things.  Some of my ROTC buddies are getting afflicted w/ BRD, and others just stare like I'm a circus freak...I guess there's a reason one some 19 year olds don't have cars.

I GUESS YOU COULD SAY TOO MUCH.

Bushy 14.5" M4 upper w/ Phantom (from GSE, back in the day)
RRA lower, 6-pos, and partks kit (from ADCO)
Chopped Carry Handle
Aimpoint M2 (eBay, a steal at $289)
Arms #22 M68 mount & cantilever spacer (from MSTN)
GG&G Sling Thing (from AR15-L member)
Giles Sling (gunshow)

All together, ~1500

The rest of 'em have had parts added/removed/swapped so many times I can't keep track of what I paid for what.  The cheapest is probably the XM16E1 clone cobbled together from eBay/EE parts -- probably about $650 in it, and it runs like a champ.

The total for my M4gery was roughly $3700 if my math is correct. Not counting Mags, Ammo, sling and other minor stuff. In the process of getting to this final config I went through easily another 2K in different optics, lights, accessory and trigger options but that was all sold to aquire the final choices and was not figured into the total.

Spec list:

Bushmaster XM15 E2S M4A3 Type LE Carbine w/1 in 7 14.5” barrel and Phantom 5C2
LaRue Tactical 7.0 w/KAC rail panels
KAC 4.5lb 2 stage match trigger w/KNS Anti-walk pins

Magpul MIAD grip
