The 20" A2 may or may not be 1:7; Bushmaster and others have made them in 1:9.

True, and it may or may not be light under the handguards. If your are talking about USGI issue your descrption is correct.

Yes, I was taling about military barrels. I also am aware of the Bushy difference- thanks Troy!
And then the original M16 (not A1 or A2) had a pencil barrel with a 1/14 twist, right? I may be ordering a surplus barrel from Sarco or someplace and need to get my terminology down. |

I dont know how many m16 were made with 1/14 twist but was change to 1/12 just as you stated. I think it was a change before the A1.
