My M4gery I put together that wonderful September night.  I put it together in the top "UberTac" configuration.  I just tore it down and made it simple.  I know, I know.  Get another M4 and have both configs.  Well.  Endulge me.  Which do ya like?

UberTac:
(There is a flashlight on the other side of the handguard.)

Personaly I dont like foward pistol grips and rails, I dont use the foward grip, and the rail adds weight.  But I am all for optics.

I like the versatility of the rail, optics are very nice, and the VG is more natural for me, but that's 100% personal opinion...

Depends.

If you plan on going to the jungle or desert to hunt vermin (and staying there for a long time, nowhere near any city), then KISS.

If you plan on being an urban mall ninja super commando, use this rifle for home defense and perhaps shoot for 3-gun matches or other rifle matches, then you can beat a bling-bling TD pistol grip with an Eotech or Aimpoint on top.

Is that bolt Ti-Nitrite? DPMS sold something like that if I'm not mistaken.

Yes.  I went to a gun show looking for a chrome bolt.  Someone had a new Ti M16 Carrier with standard bolt asembly for $100 even.  I caved.

Keep the rails.
I like options.

I vote KISS, although optics OK.

I shoot a number of different rifles instead of just 1.  I recently took the optics off my Colt Sporter Lightweight w/16" pencil barrel.  I was amazed again at how light and quick it is to put on target under 50 yards, even with only the iron sight.

#2 of the double tap ain't as good, but then again #1 is quicker.

If you dont use the forward grip you are not using a propper CQB stance and shooting with a tac light in the dark.  The DD 7.0 carbine rail weghts LESS than the standard M4 handguards FYI.

I like to be able to grab the carry handle and go.  I vote KISS!

+1

Also the free float will improve accuracy.

You could build what we want and not like it all.  Hell, you could build what you think you want and not like it.

I picked KISS.  If SHTF, I like the idea of less things to snag, less weight, and hardly ever fail iron sights.

Besides that, I already dressed up my 45ACP AR with all the stuff from my M4.

Less weight it good.  I like the optics and forward grip too, maybe a happy median is good?  Whatever you like best, is what works best for you.
