First, excuse my ignorance since I'm new to AR's.

I would like to replace my mini y comp with a Phantom FS, but need to know if it needs to be perminitly fixed to the barrel, or if I can just screw it on to make it legal (I have a 14.5" barrel)?  If it does need to be perm, how can I do this myself (i've never used welding equipment or even a soldering iron)?  Also, I've seen a thread that explains how to remove the mini y comp, but can't seem to find it again.  Does anyone have that thread archived?

Thanks for the help

The thread in question:

Since you have a 14.5" barrel, yes it must be permanent.
Pinning and/or welding can be a PITA, so you may want to take it to a pro.
