its what you cant see under the barrel that attracts people to the M4 barrel. It is a thinner profile under the handgaurds and this saves a noticable amount of weight over a full Heavy Barrel. HBARs are just plain heavy. M4 barrels are not.

people want what the military is using, right now the cool thing to have is the M4 profile barrel. I still prefer the Gov't profile 20".

I presume the reason you like the govt profile barrel over the full 20" HBAR is because it has a thinner profile under the handgaurds and is lighter. Thats not a bad idea, maybe someone will make a carbine barrel like that. Oh, yeah, thats right, they did. The M4 barrel!

If you want the M4 cause it's light weight, then why not the light weight car? Model1sales has one, I think bush master does as well. I thought about doing an M4 build, then I saw that "pencil barreled" car and decided to build that. I also hope to build a M-16/ M16A1 pencil barrel.

got one of those too. The lightweight barrels are nice and light but when they got hot, they tend to loose some accuracy. And they got hot fast. M4 barrel is a good compromise between the two. So is a fluted barrel. Got one fo them too!

a little extra weight is not a biggie to me, especially since i like to blast through a lot of rounds at once when i get out to go shoot.
i'm probably gonna pick up a RRA 16" with a car stock of some flavor or another. I'm still not clear on what the notch is for though guys..? |

Oh yea, the notch is for mounting the M203 grenade launcher.

Well, personally, I much prefer the old pencil barrelled Government Carbine. Light, handy and easily manuverable. Ghost ring A2 apeture is pretty quick, doesn't lose zero or break easily and never needs batteries. (Though I WILL admit to having tritium A2 sights.)
Something to be said for the plain old fashioned A2 lightweight carbines. Your basic KISS carbine.  Lonny P.S. And if I should EVER need an M-203, it mounts up fine, with no notch needed.  |
