I have a Colt HBAR II (post ban config).  I'd like to add a flash suppressor.  What needs to be done?  What are my options, short of changing out barrels?  Is that the best option?  Details about who, what, where, and how (nevermind when), please.  Thanks.

Remove the barrel and bring it to a machine shop or gunsmith shop with a lathe.  Have them cut 1/2"X28TPI threads on the last 5/8" of the muzzle.  Reassemble and shoot.

Any refinishing necessary?

Personally, I would parkerize the freshly exposed metal, but it really wouldn't be needed, as it would be covered with the FH, but you are leaving exposed bare metal which will eventually corrode.  Any quality paint that is resistant to solvents would work to cover the area, probably.
