What are the benefits of a Free float handguard compared to something like a KA RAS

You can sling up with a FF mounted sling without disturbing your POI. You can hang any combination of stuff off of it without disturbing your POI. You can mount optices to it with no worries that it will shift.

Free floating removes outside stresses from the barrel, resulting in better & more consistant accuracy...

get the olympic arm firsh system.  it is really good quality it will run you about 100 bucks for the carbine length.  another plus is there is no space between the upper receiver and the top rail of the handguard.

It won't affect your point of impact like pulling on the FSB mounted sling will.

When pulling tight on a free float tube, the stress is basically being applied at the reciever.  When pulling on a non free float tube, you are stressing at the barrel at the fsb.  Major difference in how you are applying torque.

what makes a KA RAS worth $300?

I liked the Specter Length FF tube from YHM. I got it from BrightFlashlights in the industry forrum cheap. I went with the 4 rail system more for the mounting options than increased accuracy. Here it is on my 9mm
