I am building an AR Pistol and want to use a Carbon Fiber FF Handguard. I want a one piece design that can be cut down so that it stops just in front of the low profile gas block (about 6.5" from the barrel nut). I do not want holes in it or rails attached, just a plain black Carbon Fiber pattern.
Anyone know who makes them? MadDog

I just installed one of those for a guy today on a lightweight barrel. His is only the 2nd I have done after my own. I think they're a great, inexpensive and VERY VERY light alternative to most of the others. The guy who makes them is a carbon fiber guy before a gun accessory manufacturer, so he doenst always have them in stock, but give them a try.
PRI makes another one which is probably a much stronger tube. You can get it with either a steel or aluminum barrel but. Steel is stronger but I would imagine aluminum is probably strong enough for most. And its a lot lighter. the PRI tube with either nut is not as light as the HiPerform, and it is a lot more money. |

Rod Holland at Hiperform will cut your tube to any length. Just tell him what you want. Great guy to work with.

The Clark tube weighs only 6 oz. How much does the Hiperform and Briley tube weigh, or are they the same thing?
If they are different, how do the finishes of each compare. I find the DULLEST and least reflective would the the most attractive Edit: how much do the Armalite rifle length free float tubes weigh? |
