Hello,

I have somewhat of a tough choice to make tomorrow he
What I know is:

1) AR6721 = 7.00 lb
2) LE6920 = 5.95 lb
3) LE6920HB = ?.?? lb

Regards,

Tgrds

P.S. In either case my bicepts are going to get stronger.

I am guessing around the same as the 6721, if not more.

Its 4 0z. heavier than the 6920 with the standard barrel.

SAW told me the HB is 12 oz heavier than the standard 6920. Makes sense from the numbers below since it would weigh in at 6.7lb. The AR6721 at 7.0lb is virtually identical except it doesn't have the step down on the barrel which would take several ounces off the 7lb figure.

If you have the choice I'd go for the LE6920HB if it's a decent price. Supposedly only 300 were made. Heck I'd get both the 6721 and 6920HB and keep the latter in the box. Maybe it will become a collectors' item someday.

Hmm, isnt the 6920HB just a 6920 with the M4A1 profile barrel? Because the difference between M4 and M4A1 is 4 ounces under the handguards, and the auto instead of burst, of course.

Yes the 6920HB has the M4A1 profiled barrel. Looking at the pictures in Black Rifle II, it would seem that there's more than four ounces of difference in weight as the difference in the amount of metal seems substantial. Where did you get the 4 ounce figure? I'd like to get my facts straight since I'm turning into an M4 trivia nut

Press release said the M4A1 was changed in FY01, with the addition of four ounces of steel under the handguards. Typo perhaps?

If you have a chance to get the 6920HB at a good price, jump on it.

Perhaps, perhaps not.  "Four ounces" is pretty hard to fat finger. I had an LE6920 in one hand and the HB version in the other about a week ago. Wish I had paid more attention but as I recall, I could not tell the difference between the two.  May have to call Specialized Armament to get some technical details.
