was going to get the M1S, but heard more recommendations for jtd's

so which one?

by the way, does jtd's uppers adn bbls come assembled like M1S's?
is jtd's better steel, cause i also heard that m1s' bbl/bolt group is 4140 not the usuall 4150?

and, is jtd's only  cromelined 16in bbl only available for the http://webcats.net/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=J&Product_Code=AMMK&Category_Code=K?

thanks yall

With threads like this floating around I'd seriously consider before I ordered anything from M1S...

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=277277

But then again, I absolutely would not order from J&T or anyone else who uses this 'FN contract' BS to market their parts...

YMMV...

I haven't personally seen anything from J&T, haven't heard enough bad things to totally rule out Model 1, but I'm quite happy with the upper I received from M&A parts.

I've gotten some real pieces of shit from J&T, and then I've also got some good stuff from them.  To me a 50/50 shot is'nt worth the aggrivation so I shop elswhere now.  As far as Model 1 I've never dealt with them so I can't help you there.

For what you want I'd seriously consider going with Ameetec Arms.  Scroll down, they have kits listed near the bottom of the page.  They seem to have a comparable price and I know the parts are of at least a little higher quality than M1Sales and J&T distributing.  When I have enough cash saved up I'm considering building my first kit using their M4 kit and one of their lowers.

Not a flame or a knock but whats the advantage?

Why not check out Adcofirearms, cmmg, rbprecision, eaglefirearms. see what they have, by the way of complete uppers, parts etc? You know what kind of proven quality you are getting if you go through these guys.

I am sure you can buy them in 'kit' format, maybe just a little more on price(?) but you know what you have in your hands.

With the pricing via the EE and the internet now, doesn't that even out the big companies prices compared with kits via mail order?

Just an idea. YMMV.

I helped a buddy put together his first rifle last night.  The kit was a Model 1 married to an Ameetec lower.  Went together flawlessly and looked great too.  I would not have a problem buying a Model 1 myself.

I've built two J&T kits so far. (The latest is my avitar)  both have been flawless.  The newest is a lightweight tactical (with lots of HEAVY stuff hanging off of it)  I went with J&T because of the shorter barrel, and (at the time) good rep.  I dont know where all the crap about them started but so far mine have been great, I'd buy from them again.

You can upgrade the J&T CAR 16 Kit to a chrome lined barrel too - it's just not listed on the website. You'll have to call them up to order if you want the chrome upgrade on the CAR 16 - $50 upcharge. I ordered one this morning

Model 1 is customer hostile and pulls answers out of their butts.

The company that has the easiest ue site doesnt mean it's te better quality of the 2.

I'd go with J&T after using both extensively. They have the better quality parts and support rocks.

I just got a used J&T kit today from the EE, the 16.1 M4 no ban upper, and it is very well made. I used to own a 6920 upper kit, and besides the obvious differences, I don't see much of a difference in quality. I would buy from J&T without reservation.
