Hello, bout to be a new AR-15 owner thanks to the sunset of the AWB:)  Just wanted to know how the M-4 type carbine bushmaster's barrel is formed, forged machined or what?  And why would be the reason be for purchasing the M-4 type anyway, just wondering if it was for asthetics or something.  Thanks,
Clint

Its turned from a blank. The profile is made for mounting an M203 40MM grenade launcher, but civilians like it cause its a good compromise between weight and ability to handle heat.

Most people go for the M4 as it makes them feel "Cool" to hold on to it while theyre watching Blackhawk down.

As for your question about how are they formed, what difference does it make?  Bullets are still gonna come out of the same end....

Just get one and buy a ton of ammo for it and shoot...shoot...shoot... Dont worry about all the other crap till you have shot atleast 2,000 rounds through your gun...

A fluted HBAR would way only a little bit more, be stronger, and cool faster.

forming or altering metal in different ways can effect the quality over time.  Over a long time givin,
but still a fact.
