Because it is more effective than Mk262 Mod0 5.56 at all distances. It is legal to hunt with too. Think of it as buying an AR10, when it comes to component cost, but smaller and lighter.

Because its  fun to build the gun, then spend a lot time trying to get either ammo or brass to reloadhinking.gif and just about the time you give up  you finally obtain both hen
I will take mine hunting in the new few weeks which it one of the reason I went with the 6.8

Because finding ammo for your current 5.56 AR is too easy and cheap.

Basic ballistics: 115gr bullet at 2600-2800fps (depending on barrel length and load).
Terminal effects closer to 308 than to 223.
AR10-like power in an M4-sized package.
Recoil feels like 223.
Legal to hunt game with just about everywhere.
Trajectory basically equivalent to 75-77gr 223 or 168gr 308.

Production ammo hasn't found its way to civilian distributors yet, so you'll have to load your own for a while yet.
