If you are up to it, using optics and a free float, yes, you can do that with chome.

I should have said I intended to use it with a free float, and a Leupold MRT M1 IL or MRT M3, Spending all this money on Optics, I just want to make sure I would be happy with a 20 chrome-lined. What does the military use in thier SPRs? |

Douglas 1/8 stainless. If you have the budget, get one of those, or a stainless barrel. More maintenance, but for the ultimate in accuracy, its the only way to go.

Yes you can. I do that all the time with my TA-11 equipped 20" chrone, 5.56 BM barrel. It's just a matter of feeding it the proper fuel.

Hell, I've done that on occasion (couldn't do it on demand, but it happened often enough), with a 16" HBAR and 3-9x scope at 300 yards. Plain "ol M855 ammo (IMI). I'd say 50-70% of the time, prone on a blanket. That was when I was in better practice.

SPR is a STAINLESS barrel... NO CHROME... Oh, and DO NOT USE 1:9 & 55gr ammo for 300yds and out... 1:7 with 75s or 77s is far better... Remember: 3-4" 10-shot group at 300 would be a 10-X in HP, however that would also be with no optics & an A2 rifle... It's doable, but the 1:9 twist will make it harder... Are you planning on shooting 40 or 50gr loads? If not, then 1:7 will work for everything from 55gr surplus to 'good' 77gr SMK Black Hills |

RRA, Bushmaster, Olympic...just about everrybody offers a tight twist stainless barrel. Many stainless barrels are 1/8. That will do the trick.

The carbine portion of the ITRC (Int'l Tactical Rifleman Championships) was won this year with a 16" stainless Rock River barrel (1:8) shooting a 52gr bullet, Benchmark powder, in once-fired LC cases. That had carbine shots to 350-375 yards, and misses were heavily penalized. (I shoot the 75's, FWIW) -z |

its as any accurate as any other barrel with iron sights...
with an optic you may see a differnce between a SS and CL... but you don't get an CL from an accuracy sake... you get it for killing-sake... it will be more accurate than you... GET A CHROMELINED |

3-4 inch groups? With a free float, and a Leupold MRT M1 IL or MRT M3? You will be able to take a hair off a gnats ass at 300 meters with that setup my friend. Practice makes Perfect.

Not many people are focusing on the lightweight government profile note. I dont think its gonna be as accurate as an Hbar, but not much difference.
