ok, i've seen those explodeing targets that you can get at the sport store and catologs, but i want something to really go off.  Anyone here ever shoot those Colman fule tanks?  those small green fule tanks for the camping grill or lanturns.  I used xm193 last time, and well, of course it didn't ignite, just blasted a hole through it and sprayed propane everywhere.  would a tracer set one off, or do i need incendiary rounds?  and seeing the ammount of propane spewed out last time, i'm wondering if i should dig myself a foxhole, and put overhead cover

Big propane tank HALF full with a tracer. Maybe ss109? I dont think FMJ would spark since it is all lead. I could be wrong though. Oh yea and, ~80 yards is definaltly not far away enough from the blast ;)

Try mixing ten of them in a gallon jug. If that wont do it for you then nothing will. 20 gallons of gas is pretty cool also.

Watch out messing with this stuff,  its about a step away from a DD.
Using propane and O2 also violates all kinds of federal laws.
Not wanting to be a party pooper, after all we all have failed to fight the urge to make something go boom at one point or another.
Stick to the stuff that is made by someone with a license and keep it safe.

Shooting one of those small coleman propane canisters is amusing, but not all that amazing. Once we tried just shooting one with no flame source, it just discharged really fast, spinning around and filling the air with propane stink. Quite a while later we tried one set on a burning cardboard box, that was decidedly more spectacular, but there was still no "boom." It was more of a hissing/roaring intense flame type of deal.

i'm going to go with the those tannerite targets, they seem much better and safer. I wasn't going to be shooting full zixe propane tanks, those smll green canisters for camping stoves, like  6oz bottles or whatnot

Be safe

Had a local boy get himself a $60,000 fine for starting a fire with one!

Milk jugs of gasoline with road flares a couple feet behind them make some nice fireballs when hit.

I would suggest having someone you don;t like be the target setter just in case though.

At our shoots we use tannerite and dynamite.

light a small fire 6-8 feet away. the propane will fog out quickly. when the fog hits the flame Whoosh.  No Bang, just Whoosh. kind of a poor mans FAE.
