The markings have been eliminated, and BM does not encourage normal folks to have lowers so-marked, but if you find one for sale privately, it is legal for you to buy it.

Most of the LE stamped weapons were quickly sold by people who (A) Feel they are a collectors item. (B) Are armchair commando wannabe military/le.
There are no restrictions on you owning them, unless you live in a AWB inclusive state. |

I just bought a LEO stamped bushmaster from my local dealer for $800.00
Why did I buy that one? Because the one next to it was $50 more, and the one I bought is identical to the one I wear at work. There were a couple other LEO stamped rifles but the cost was more than I was willing to pay. I used to be a cop but could never afford an AR-15. (why are cops so underpaid?) Now I work at a nuclear power plant and can afford it. I like being able to own a rifle like I use at work... |

I stand corrected, I did mean "sold to" instead of "sold by".
If you bought it because it was the only thing available, you are by far the minority. I do have to admit, I am curious as to why your upper and lower receivers look so different for a weapon that was bought new. What happened? |

He probably took the pic right after coloring the stamps and didn't get all of the excess white off before taking pic. I picked mine up the day the ban expired. Paid 775 for it NIB.

I want one because I heard just having that stamping on your rifle improves your shooting by at least 0.5 MOA at any distance.

It was the flash lighting the halfs differently due to the fact that the lower had been cleaned with rubbing alcohol and the upper still had oil on it. The rifle looks perfect in person. Although LEO marked rifles were the only available I will confess I probably could have waited for a non marked. I had been saving for a Bushmaster and had held off as the end of the ban was nearing, just to see, becuase I did want a collapsible stock. So, being able to buy the day of the sunset and have the "cool" markings was a plus. I've always been the slightly defiant type too so the markings do have special meaning to me. The last thing was the price, I paid $750 so there really wasn't a down side. |

I bought a bushie lower this time last year and got one marked LE/Govt use only. just bought another yesterday and the marking were not there. I would think the markings will be meaningless now and in the future

I bought one of these L.E. Carbines last Friday for $850.00
I figure its just a little piece of history. It is a triumphant symbol of how liberty will defeat tyranny every time. This rifle, once only able to be sold to certain members of society becuase of a failed, socialist law, is now available to all law abiding citizens. It even has the stamp on the side to say so.his |
