+1 for AZ. But it's not that we've got very little gun laws there just old and based on common sense. Of course the down side to living in AZ in that you can only do it missionary style because anything else is against state law.

NEVER NEVER NEVER trust a cop to tell you the correct interpretation of the law.
There are some out there that know what they're talking about (and some of them even post here), but the majority are so misinformed as to be downright scary. Example: in MO, if you're over 21, and can legally possess a handgun, you can carry that handgun IN YOUR CAR locked and loaded without a concealed carry permit. Just can't carry it concealed on you outside of the car. Every last LEO I've spoken with in the area (state, county, and local) all said that its illegal unless you have a permit. <BZZZZZZZ>WRONG! |

THIS IS BS. THE STORE I GO TO HAS BLOCKED 30 ROUND MAGS AND THE BOYS WHERE JUST IN THERE DOING THEIR ANNUAL CHECKS OF RECORDS AND SUCH AND HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE FFL SELLING THE MAGS. ITS TO BAD THAT THE LAWS ARENT MORE CLEAR SO WE REALLY KNOW WHATS UP.

The pissy part of the whole deal is that the cop is right. There was something out of the AGs office recently that disavowed the previous interpretation that blocking was OK. I saw it on the website a couple of weeks ago when I was downloading a pistol permit application. Can't find it now but it was there. |

Who's got one of those 'not this shit again' pics?
 First, the letter being referenced 'disavowing' previous direction given out by various state agencies was actually an 'administrative rules change' that was drafted by the NJSP and submitted TWO YEARS AGO. I read it too, it was dated 2002. Second, we had a Captain from a local PD call the folks at NJSP and verified that, behind the 'company line' bullshit statements about how high caps are banned, nothing has changed in years. Neither attorney general nor the state legislature has moved to implement the proposed rules change from 2002. Third, as far as I can tell, NJ Title 2C, our criminal code, and and 2C;39 and 2C:58, sections pertaining to firearms, HAVE NOT BEEN ALTERED. (I have the complete code section posted in the NJ Hometown forum if anyone is interested) None of the proposed clarifications from 2002 have been implemented, at least not in the published criminal code. I looked up the state legislature website recently, no changes... I know it sucks that so many people who should know the laws don't. But we have to do a better job of not reacting to everything we hear. I've seen it posted here a million times during periods of crisis - "Remain calm, await good intel." Double-check your sources on this shit. There are so many documented cases various officials at all levels not knowing their exit holes from a brick wall that you simply can't take any single piece of info at face value, when it comes to NJ gun laws. By the way, looks like a few NJ members that I haven't seen in the hometown forum before. WELCOME TO THE SITE! Stop by and say hi, its a great crew here in NJ.
