I was wondering if putting a steel sleeve with set screws over my  Mini Y Comp on My Bushmaster when I shoot at an indoor range
would it be safe and cut down on the noise? I live in N.J. so I either have to by a different upper or change barrels.
I work in a machine shop so I can make what ever I need.

Yes it's safe.  Somebody sells one, try Bushmaster.

I've never sen a sleeve for the Mini Y, but I've seen and bought one for the AK74 type.  It works great and looks decent.  Unfortunately I never thought of using locktite on the set screws so I lost one.
