I would turn it to a lighterweight rather than fluting if its for weight savings as its cheaper and you wnat get that much better accuracy or heat dissipation to notice. If its for accuracy "improvement" there will be none. If its for looking cool then that is up to you.

IMHO, The only 16" worth fluting would be the 16" bull. A standard H-Bar contour you would only get very short flutes behind the gas block and fluting it in front of the gas block you run the risk of turning the long. thin muzzle end of the barrel into a "tuning fork", degrading accuracy.
