I'm interested in putting an A1 FS on my recently threaded barrel. Do the A1's have flat facets for a regular wrench like the A2's? Or do they need a special wrench like the 3 prong?

Is it correct that these FS's don't need to be timed, and can just be staked down at any position with a lock washer?

Thanks in advance!

Yes to all of the above.  Nothing special is needed, it is quite simple.

Edited to add, a crush washer or peel washer is your best bet, no need to use a lock washer.
