I have had a 243 upper since March. It shoots great and no problems.The best I could do with factory ammo was .7MOA. With handloads I can get to .26 MOA.

How many rounds downrange? Any throat erosion? I have been holding off on buying one to see how the barrels last. Thanks, Bob |

I've had a .243 WSSM for about 9 months now. I have between 1500-2000 rounds through it now and the accuracy is still getting better. I have only shot hand-loads through it and I'm not shooting real light bullets so I'm thinking the barrel should be good for a while.
I'm shooting the Nosler 85 grain partition for whitetail and 88 grain Bergers for long range varmint. Both are going out at just under 3400 FPS and the POI is close enough I don't have to change the scope between the two loads. Over-all, I'm very happy with my WSSM. Now that I have the .243 I'm starting to consider the .300! |

Yes, I'm hoping for the best. I've had a 6X45 upper for years and have thousands of rounds through it and it's still just as accurate as when it was new. The energy isn't what you get with the WSSM but I'm sure the barrel will last longer.

These were all five round groups. I have about 800 rds through the tube and accuracy is still improving. I am using 58gr Vmax, 75gr. Vmax and 90 Berger Match all moly coated. All will do .26 MOA. One thing I have noticed though is that all of these loads needed the maximum charge before they tightened up.

I've noticed the same thing. I was having all kinds of trouble with getting the necks to seal. I would get 3 shots into one hole and then one would be an inch out and that piece of brass would come out all sooty. I started annelling the brass and that helped quite a bit but the WSSM seems to like it "hot" |

I had exactly the same experience with annealing the necks. All of the most accurate loads began to show signs of pressure on the primer before the necks would seal and the cases would not come out sooty.
